The ritual garment
Folded, held,
returned.
A garment that behaves almost like a ritual object. Flat or low-waste construction, minimal seams, textile ties instead of hardware, and a form that adapts to any body.
The garment is at concept stage. The concept and fold logic are developed. Material samples, then a first physical prototype, are the next steps.
Concept stage05 The ritual garment
A final layer, to be folded, held and returned.
Not designed to preserve. Designed to accompany a final gesture of care. Simple, quiet and tactile, adaptable to different bodies, without decoration. Laying it flat, folding it, wrapping it and holding it matter as much as how it looks.
- Flat or low-waste construction
- Folding and wrapping
- Minimal seams
- Textile ties, no hardware
- Non-gendered, adaptable form
- Natural, minimally treated
Concept stage. First samples next.
- 01
Textile ties
Closures are made from cloth, not hardware. They can be tied, loosened and released by hand.
- 02
Natural fibres
Woven plant fibres for the cloth, with grown materials such as bacterial cellulose explored for a final layer.
- 03
Flat construction
Cut from flat panels so the garment can be laid open, folded and wrapped.
- 04
Minimal seams
Fewer joins. Each seam is there because the garment needs it.
- 05
Folded structure
Pleats and folds give the garment its shape, without stiffening or added structure.
